“Grammar gives us tools and keys by which we can unlock language.”

-Jon Rider on “Learn Hindi Like a Pro”

In Episode 12, Jessica interviews Jon Rider, a linguist, translator, web developer, trainer, cultural liaison and founder of HindiUnlocked.com. In our line of work, we cross paths with a lot of people who are trying to learn Hindi. Jon is one of the only non-Indians who we have met who has become fluent in Hindi as an adult. Now his mission is to help others to learn not only about the language, but the cultural underpinnings on which these rapidly changing sociocultural landscapes of the Indian subcontinent hang. His program is called HindiUnlocked.com

Listen to our conversation as we discuss why Hindi is so hard to learn. What do people do wrong in learning Hindi and other Indian languages? What are the gaps in softwares and apps out in the marketplace?

Jon is also offering a 10% discount on any of his courses to listeners of this podcast. Listen to the podcast to get the code!

The Invisible India Podcast’s opening and closing music is performed by Christopher Hale on Sitar and Ed Hanley on Tabla.
